Finistère Sud (Coast - LMNP)

With place-names reminiscent of man’s links with the ocean and atmospheric towns, whose walls recall the men who built them, Finistere’s history is the story of one of the most remarkable –and undoubtedly the most seaward-facing - regions of France...
Sprinkled as it is with reefs, the coast of Finistere has long been surrounded by a string of lighthouses, built to protect ships sailing near the shore. Finistere is proud to invite you to enjoy the sea-fresh flavours and delicate aromas of its traditional dishes: stars of the sea-food menu include fish, oysters, “vintage“ sardines and langoustines. Even the most discerning of palates will delight in the local cakes and pastries, not forgetting of course the sweet and savoury pancakes, shortbread and butter-rich “Kouign amann”.
‘Pays de Cornouaille’ is the name given to the area of South Finistere situated at the farthest point of Brittany, with the ocean to both south and west. An area steeped in cultural heritage but also a place where life, poised as it is between land and sea, has something very special to offer.
