Situated in the heart of the Alpine range, discover the Haute-Savoie: the land of the Mont-Blanc. North of the Rhone-Alps region, on the borders of Switzerland and Italy, as the seasons go by, the Haute-Savoie reveals an exceptional environment.
Multiple treasures
The Haute-Savoie benefits from an extraordinary patrimony: parks and reserves, medieval cities, baroque churches and chapels, abbeys and castles, museums. It also has a rich monastic past unknown to most. To the rhythm of your walks and hikes, you will discover the abbeys of Abondance, Sixt and Aulps... While strolling along the Thiou canal, you will be charmed by the old town of Annecy, which has been given the name of the “Savoyard Venice”.
The lake blending its blue waters with the verdant mountain pasture offers the idyllic setting to go for a swim or a boat ride.
With the Chamonix valley, the treasures of the mountain are within reach: numerous and
exceptional viewpoints are accessible via ski-lifts and pedestrian footpaths. These different panoramas are all situated around the valley, in the heart of the Mont-Blanc massif as well as in the Aiguilles Rouges massif.
A land where the wood is king!
Since the 11th century, the wood is sacred in the region. With the water, it was part of the main resources for the inhabitants of Les Gets. Today, the wood, which takes up 2/3 of the district, is a true source of life: a wood boiler room, a sawmill in operation, a tradition present in the architecture, in the craft industry and in the patrimony.
